In winter, the village is especially popular among winter sports fans because the mountain lift in the village centre takes them right to the heart of the Alta Badia ski resort and the renowned Sellaronda ski circuit. And those who like history can explore Mt Lagazuoi with its remnants of World War I.

Outstanding hotel, excellent skiing base

“The hotel is superb – the staff are incredibly helpful, the reception and concierge will look after all your needs (even booking ski passes to avoid the long queues and returning your hire gear for you). The food is outstanding and the restaurant staff are excellent. The hotel and room were immaculately clean. Take time to use the spa which is huge and very well run with excellent saunas and steam rooms. The roof top pools will blow your mind and the kids loved the outdoor pool which was a novelty when it was snowing heavily. Very highly recommend.”

The skiing in and around San Cassiano is excellent and the scenery magnificent. This was my fifth visit to the Dolomites and Hotel Fanes has been by far the best. I will come back!”
