Why celebrate Valentine’s Day?
Love is the answer!
Love is indeed all you need. If you are in love, then you know that every single day is worthy of a small celebration. On Valentine’s Day the whole world joins in, sending love vibes around the globe.
For some it is an opportunity to celebrate their lover, for others a mere marketing gag invented by the postcard industry. For us at the Belvita Leading Wellnesshotels Südtirol, the Valentine’s Day is an opportunity to take some time off to be pampered and spend quality time together with the one you love; quality time which often is neglected in daily life. It is not clear which Valentine we have to thank, for this tradition; but it is written that Saint Valentine was killed a martyr because he performed weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry. February 14 first became associated with romantic love in the 14th century, when the tradition of courtly love flourished in England. Then, in 18th century England, couples presented each other with flowers and confectionary on this very day. Today lovers sometimes choose to wellness on Valentine’s Day, relishing a well-deserved spa break on cloud 9 in one of the very best South Tyrolean spa hotels, painting the town not red, but a wonderful shade of purple.
