The fascination of mountains
Six places – six experiences
With the Messner Mountain Museums, extreme mountaineer Reinhold Messner created six places to learn more about the mountains, their people, and their culture.
At six extraordinary places in South Tyrol and Belluno, world-famous mountaineer Reinhold Messner presents the “sum of all his experiences” in a single museum project. Each exhibition revolves around a specific mountain-related theme and brings it into harmony with the collected relics, works of art, and architecture.
MMM Firmian at Sigmundskron Catle near Bolzano is the museums’ heart piece and thematises the encounter of man and mountain. On the 2,000-metre-high peak of Plan de Corones/Kronplatz you’ll find MMM Corones, which is dedicated to traditional mountaineering. MMM Juval in Juval Castle presents the Magic of the Mountain, while mountain people are the focus at MMM Ripa in Bruneck Castle. At MMM Ortles in Sulden, everything revolves around the world of ice. And, last but not least, MMM Dolomites south of Cortina d’Ampezzo is devoted to rock climbing.
Embark on a fascinating discovery tour around the theme of mountains and climb Reinhold Messner’s “15th eight-thousand-metre peak”, as he likes to call his museum project. Back at the hotel, you’ll get to enjoy pampering moments of wellness in South Tyrol.
